LR, Bilty (Bilti), GR & Consignment Note Software
Understand India's regional transport document names — and how LR BitBull helps you manage LR, bilty, GR, and consignment notes in one platform.
Indian Transport Terminology
LR, Bilty, GR & Consignment Note — the same document
In India, LR (Lorry Receipt) and Bilty / Bilti generally refer to the same transport document. The difference is mostly regional terminology. LR BitBull is built for all of these — whether your team says LR, bilty, GR, or consignment note.
| Term | Common Usage |
|---|---|
| LR (Lorry Receipt) | Formal/business term used across India |
| Bilty / Bilti | Common in North India (Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, etc.) |
| GR (Goods Receipt) | Used by many transport companies, especially in western India |
| Consignment Note | Legal/official term, especially under GST and transport regulations |
Same document, different names
A transporter in Punjab may call it bilty, while a corporate logistics team in Mumbai may say LR or GR. Under GST and transport regulations, the official term is often Consignment Note — but day-to-day operations still use LR and bilty interchangeably.
One software for every term
LR BitBull digitizes this entire workflow: create LR/bilty slips, generate PDFs, share with drivers on WhatsApp, scan vehicle QR codes, and collect POD — regardless of what your office calls the document.

Yes. LR (Lorry Receipt) and Bilty / Bilti generally refer to the same transport document in India. The difference is mostly regional terminology — not a different type of paperwork.
In North India — especially Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh — transport offices and truck operators commonly say "bilty" or "bilti". Across formal business and pan-India logistics, LR (Lorry Receipt) is the standard term.
What about GR and Consignment Note?
GR (Goods Receipt) is widely used by transport companies, particularly in western India. It serves the same operational purpose — recording consignment details, freight terms, consignor, consignee, and vehicle information.
Consignment Note is the legal and official term under GST and transport regulations in India. When compliance, e-way bill linkage, or formal documentation is discussed, authorities and accountants often use this term — even though your staff may still say LR or bilty in daily work.
